What is Investment Casting?
Investment casting is a well know and controlled process which can produce parts in a wide variety of metals. A sacrificial pattern, normally made from wax’ is used and is covered in a ceramic shell which is fired, hardening the shell and burning out the core. Whilst the shell is still hot, molten metal is poured into the shell. The metal cools and the shell can be removed leaving a copy of the original pattern. Using advanced AL techniques, Aben can produce patterns in prototype volumes, enabling metal parts to be produced easily and quickly, without the need for expensive tooling.
